Chengdu.

Pandas, teahouses and an introduction to Sichuan's rich food culture.

Discover
Chengdu

Chengdu is a lively gateway to Sichuan, known for giant pandas, teahouses and a food culture that rewards curiosity. A morning at the panda base can lead into a slower afternoon in People's Park.

Wenshu Monastery and the streets around Jinli offer different views of local tradition. With an extra day, travel south to the Leshan Giant Buddha, carved into a riverside cliff.

Tea houses & neighbourhood rhythm

A park tea house and a quieter street walk reveal Chengdu through conversation, leisure and food. Choose places used for everyday life as well as visitor districts, without expecting private residents to perform for the camera.

Pandas & cultural collections

A panda visit is best planned around the chosen facility and its current operation. A museum, Wenshu Monastery or another cultural site gives the stay breadth beyond the city’s most famous animal.

Sanxingdui, Dujiangyan & beyond

Sanxingdui’s archaeological collections and Dujiangyan’s water-management landscape are separate excursions with different directions and themes. Qingcheng can pair with the latter over a longer stay; none should be squeezed into one frantic day.

Time well spent.

3 days · city & one excursion

Combine pandas, local life and a selected cultural focus.

4–5 days · deepen the region

Add Sanxingdui or a Dujiangyan–Qingcheng extension, then consider Leshan or western Sichuan.

At the local table

Sichuan cooking offers far more than maximum heat: noodles, small dishes, tea and varied seasoning are part of the pleasure. Tailor chilli levels.

Choosing your base

A central base supports evenings and food walks. Outlying attractions need separate transfers and current reservations.
